Excerpted from "The Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood: The Monkey Island Years"

"I've sailed the seas from Trinidad to Tortuga and I've never seen anything like it! The engagement ring I gave Elaine has a terrible pirate curse on it. LeChuck is behind it, I'm sure. I should have known that nothing good could come out of that evil zombie's treasures. And if that's not bad enough, the clairvoyant I met in the mangrove swamp told me that if I am to break the curse and save Elaine, I will have to die!"

The first image was supposed to be in the opening credits, but was scraped because the project leaders found out a mermaid wasn't suitable for the Monkey Island world. The second image shows the original art for the verbcoin and the third image is the official CMI box artwork (without logo), created by Larry Ahern and Bill Tiller. The last three images are backgrounds from various cutscenes in the game.

This ad for The Curse of Monkey Island was featured in the January 1998 edition of the German Magazine "Bravo Screenfun". This image shows a page from The Curse of Monkey Island Strategy Guide which describes a scene at the end of the game that didn't make it into the final game.

It seems like Murray's plans to dominate the world are finally starting to work. Carla from Argentina submitted these 2 interesting horoscope pictures that are included with a famous chewing gum brand, called Bazooka, showing Murray on them. So who knows, chewing gum today, tomorrow the WORLD!! ahem.

    Guybrush Threepwood
Guybrush has escaped the Carnival of Death and somehow become a lot taller and skinnier. His beard has mysteriously disappeared at sea and his clothes have also changed. He is lost at sea, but stumbles upon a battle between LeChuck and Elaine. When he turns Elaine into a gold statue he must travel to another island to undue the curse and once again stand face to face with LeChuck.
    Elaine Marley
Elaine has realized how much she loves Guybrush and without doubt she accepts his proposal. Unfortunately for her, the wedding ring turns her into a gold statue. Regrettably, she spends almost the entire game as a statue and there is no interaction with her except in cutscenes.
Once again LeChuck rises from the dead, but this time he returns as a demon pirate with a flaming beard and hat. As usual he wants to marry Elaine and kill Guybrush, but he really isn't a part of the game until the final part where he kidnaps Elaine and a fight between him and Guybrush is inevitable.
    Voodoo Lady
The Voodoo Lady moves around a lot and luckily she can always be found on the island where Guybrush strands. This time she has chosen to settle down in an abandoned ship in the lovely swamp on Plunder Island. Her advise is still mysterious, but nevertheless useful.
Stan makes his return in a delightful an unexpected way. How he does it should not be revealed here, but it is definably unpredicted although the true Monkey Island fan can probably figure it out. Stan is no longer selling used ships or used coffins. This time he is established as a insurance salesman, who has nothing but your best interest at heart.
    The Cannibals
The Cannibals have moved away from Monkey Island and are now living on Blood Island near a volcano, where they worship the Volcano God. They spend most of their time by the volcano and you only get to talk to Lemon Head. They still don't eat humans, but the temptation is great and hard to resist.
Wally has been recruited by LeChuck and is now a member of his undead army. Luckily, Guybrush is able to convert him back to the good side and Wally stops serving LeChuck. His appearance in this game is rather short and is over after the first part.
