There are a few exceptions to the rules above. If I'm quoting a conversation and a name comes up, it will not stand out and items only stand out when you can pick them up or use them for something.

When Guybrush is talking to Bart and Fink you learn that he is on a quest to find the legendary treasure of Big Whoop and that he is trying to charter a ship to get off Scabb Island. After the conversation, part I begins.

Part I: The Largo Embargo

You are standing at the entrance to the town of Woodtick. If you go to the right you will get to the map of the island. Pick up the shovel from the sign and walk onto the bridge. Largo LaGrande will approach you and rob you of all your money.
Enter the second ship on Guybrush's right. Here you'll met Wally, the cartographer. Talk to him about everything, especially Big Whoop. When you are done talking to him, wait a while. When he puts his monocle on the table to rub his eyes, quickly take it. Before you leave, take a piece of paper from the pile at the bottom of the screen.

Go down the hatch across from Wally's boat, and start talking to the bartender about Largo. After a while Largo makes a visit, spits on the wall, takes all the bartender's money, and leaves.
Use the paper with Largo's spit on the wall and leave the Bloody Lip. Now crawl in through the window on the side of the boat and pick up the knife from the table. Crawl back out the window and go up to the laundry, the ship furthest in the back.

Talk to the three Men of Low Moral Fiber and ask one of them about his wooden leg. Eventually he will ask you to buy him some polish from the wood smith, ask him for some money and finish the conversation.
Try to pick up the bucket, one of the pirates will stop you. Ask if it is their bucket. It's not so Guybrush will pick it up.

Leave the laundry and walk into the hotel on the left. Use the knife on the rope holding the little alligator. Pegbiter, the alligator, will escape and the innkeeper will chase him. Pick up the Cheese Squigglies from the bowl, open the door to the only room in the hotel, and enter Largo's room.
Pick up the toupee from the dresser and leave before Largo comes back.

Go to the map of the island and enter the swamp. Use the bucket with the swamp and you have a bucket o' mud. Use the coffin and row all the way to the right until the elevator takes you up. Pick up the small string hanging from the table and go to the right. Here you will meet the voodoo lady. Talk to her about making a voodoo doll of Largo. You can give her his toupee and spit now if you want or you can wait till later. Leave the voodoo lady, row back through the swamp, and go to the beach.
Pick up the stick, leave, and go to the cemetery.
Walk up to the graves on the hill and use the shovel on Marco Largo LaGrande's grave. Leave the cemetery and go back to Largo's room in hotel.

Close the door and place the bucket o' mud on top of it. Hide behind the dressing screen and wait for Largo to enter :) As you might imagine, the bucket o' mud will drop onto Largo's head, causing him to get angry and leaving. Go to the laundry. There you will find Largo arguing with Mad Marty. Now, go back to Largo's room once more and close the door. Pick up the laundry claim ticket from the back of the door.
Go back to the laundry and give the laundry claim ticket to Mad Marty. You will get Largo's piece of clothes, a pearly-white bra.

Now you have to catch the rat. Open the box on the ground and use the stick with the box. Then use the string with the stick and place the Cheese Squigglies in the box. Wait for the rat to start eating the bate and then pull the string. Open the box and pick up the rat.

Go back to the Bloody Lip and crawl through the window. Put the rat in the vichyssoise and crawl out the window. Enter the Bloody Lip through the hatch and ask the bartender for some stew. The bartender discovers the rat, fires the cook, and offers you the job. Take the job and he will give you a weeks pay in advance. Escape through the window and go see the voodoo lady in the swamp.
Talk to her and give the pearly-white bra and the bone. Also give her the spit and the toupee if you didn't gave it to her earlier. She will make you a voodoo doll of Largo, but you have to get close to him for it to be affective. Go back to Largo's room in the hotel and quickly use the pins in the doll.
After a small conversation Guybrush reveals to Largo that he is LeChuck's vanquisher, but to convince Largo he shows him LeChuck's beard, still alive and wriggling. Largo steals the beard and threatens to resurrect LeChuck. Talk to the voodoo lady and she will inform you that the only way to escape LeChuck is by finding Big Whoop. She will also give you a book named Big Whoop: Unclaimed Bonanza or Myth. You can read the book if you want. It tells the story of Big Whoop

Now, go the peninsula and enter the ship. Talk to Captain Dread and tell him you want to charter a ship. He informs you that he cannot sail because he has lost his lucky necklace. End the conversation and give him the monocle.
Tell him again that you need to charter a ship and you're on your way.

Part II: Four Map Pieces

Part II starts with a cutscene in which you see the resurrected LeChuck and learn about his plans for Guybrush.

You start on the deck of Captain Dread's ship. Pick up the parrot chow next to Guybrush and go inside. Captain Dread welcomes you and asks where you want to go. Ask him what your choices are and he will give you a map of the three islands. Start off by sailing to Phatt Island.
A guard will approach you and ask if you are Guybrush Threepwood. No matter what you answer, you will be taken prisoner and brought to see Governor Phatt. When you talk to him you'll learn that LeChuck has put a bounty on your head and that Governor Phatt intends to sell you to LeChuck.
You are thrown in jail and guarded by Walt, the dog. Pull the rock hard mattress and pick up the stick from underneath it. Use the stick with the bone of the dead prisoner in the next cell. Pick up the bone and give it to Walt, who will drop the key and leave. Pick up the small key and use it in the cell door. Pick up the gorilla envelope and the manila envelope from the shelf. Open the manila envelope and you will see that it contains all your stuff. Open the gorilla envelope and you will get a banana and an organ. Leave the jail.

Walk into the alley left of the library. You will see a guy playing a wheel and winning. When he leaves, follow him into the alley to the right of the library. You will find out that he cheats by getting the winning number from a guy, you have to do the same. Knock on the door and ask what the next winning number will be. He will then ask you for the password and tell you that you have to get it right three times.
The first number of fingers he shows you, are the correct answer. If the says: "If this is 3 (and he holds up 5 fingers) what is this?" (and he holds up another number of fingers.)  Then the answer is 5, because he held up 5 fingers the first time. Answer correct three times and you'll get the winning number. Go back to the other alley and tell the dealer that you would like to place a bet. Play on the number you were told would be the winning number. When you win, select the invitation as your prize.
Go back to Dread's ship and sail to Booty Island.

Enter the antique store on the left. Buy the saw, the horn, and the sign. (Buy them buy picking them up). Use the parrot chow with the hook, which the sign used to hang on, and buy the mirror. Look at the map piece on the counter and ask the antique dealer what he wants for it. You'll learn that he will only trade it for a figurehead from the sunken ship The Mad Monkey. Leave and enter the costume shop.
Give the invitation to the shopkeeper and he will show you your...costume. Pick up the dress and leave.
Talk the woman just outside and ask for one of her leaflets. Talk a bit more with her and you'll learn that her name is Kate Capsize and she has a glass-bottomed boat for charter.

Leave and walk all the way to the left until you get to the map of the island. Go to the mansion.
A guard will stop you. Talk to him and eventually Guybrush will change into his costume and after showing the invitation to the guard, he lets him pass.
Walk to the back of the mansion and push the garbage can. When the cook comes out, quickly run around to the front of the house and continue around to the back again. Go into the kitchen and steal a fish. Go out again and let the cook yell at you a bit, then go around to the front again and enter the mansion.
Pick up the map piece from the frame on the wall and leave the mansion. The dog will tell on you. Talk to the gardener and he will take you to see Governor Elaine Marley. Talk to her. After a steaming conversation Elaine throws the map out of the window. Guybrush automatically walks down the stairs. Walk back up to her room and take the oar from the wall.
Leave the mansion and try to pick up the map piece from the ground. It will end up on a cliff. Try to pick up the dog. Guybrush will change back to his normal clothes and take the dog.
Go back to Dread's ship and sail to Phatt Island again.

Enter the library. Open the model lighthouse next to the door and pick up the lens from inside it. Look in the card catalog and pull out the drawer named CD. Search through the files until you find a book name "Great shipwrecks of our century". Select to remember that. At the same time open the drawer named OPQR and find the book called "The Joy of Hex", also remember that. Lastly select another book (doesn't matter which one) and select to remember that as well.
Go talk to the librarian and tell her you're looking for a book. You then have to sign up for a library card. It doesn't matter what information you give her. When you have the temporary library card tell her you are looking for "Great shipwrecks of our century", "The Joy of Hex", and the other book you selected. Leave and ignore her comment about putting the lens back :) Walk to the pier and engage in a conversation with the fisherman. Agree to a bet about who can catch the biggest fish and then give the fish you stole from Elaine's mansion, to him. He gives you his fishing pole.
Place the leaflet, you got from Kate, on the wanted Guybrush poster. Walk to the left across the bridge and on to the map of the island. You'll see Kate arriving on the island and put in jail by the guard.
Return to the wharf and enter the jail where you find Kate imprisoned. Use the small key in the cell door to free Kate. Pick up the vanilla envelope from the shelf and open it. You now have Kate's bottle o´ near-grog.

Leave the wharf and walk to the mansion on the map. Open the gate and enter the house. Engage in a conversation with the guard and tell him there's a fire in the kitchen. He'll run off and you can walk up the stairs where you'll find Governor Phatt sleeping. Use the book you borrowed from the library (make sure it's not Big Whoop: Unclaimed Bonanza or Myth or Great shipwrecks of our century) with the book Famous Pirate Quotations lying on Governor Phatt's stomach. Now leave the mansion, board Captain Dread's ship and sail to Booty Island.

When you arrive on Booty Island walk to the location called Big Tree on the map. Use the plank that is already in the tree and insert the oar in the hole next to it. Use the oar and Guybrush will fall down and hit his head. Guybrush has a dream in which he meets hi parents and LeChuck. His parents sing a strange song which Guybrush writes down on the spit incrusted paper.

After the dream pick up the broken oar and go back to Captain Dread's boat and sail to Scabb Island. Give the broken oar to the woodsmith and he'll fix and reinforce it for you. Go down to the Bloody Lip. The bartender finds out you have left the kitchen so he fires you. Use the banana with the metronome on the piano. Jojo will be hypnotized and you can pick him up. Talk to the bartender and try to buy some grog. The bartender doesn't think you're old enough so he offers you some near-grog, but realizes he has just sold the last to Kate. Show him your temporary library card and he will sell grog to you. Buy a Yellow Beard's Baby and a Blue Whale, the bartender also gives you a crazy straw. Mix the two drinks together and you'll have a green drink. Leave the Bloody Lip walk up to the laundry. Use the well-polished old saw with the peg leg of one of the pirates. Leave the laundry and the pirate will discover what has happened. Walk into the woodsmith's house, who is away fixing the peg leg. Pick up the hammer and nails.
Leave and sail to Booty Island.

Enter Stan's Previously Owned Coffins and engage in a conversation with Stan. Tell him you're looking for a good used coffin. When Stan jumps into a coffin to show how much space there is then close the lid. He'll jump back up and give you a complementary hankie. Ask him to show you the coffin again and then use the nails on the coffin. You have now nailed the lid shut and trapped Stan in a coffin.
Pick up the crypt key from the big tombstone behind Stan's desk. Walk outside and go to the right to the spitting competition. Talk to the spit master and tell him you would like to enter the competition. Tell him a name and spit. It doesn't go as planned. Blow the ship's horn and everyone will be distracted for a moment. While they are distracted pick up on the flags, Guybrush will automatically rearrange them. Use the crazy straw with the green drink and enter the competition again. Spit and you will reach second place. Drink the green drink again and enter the competition once more. Wait until the red scarf of the lady to the right blows in the wind and then spit. You reach first place and wins a spit plaque.

Enter the store and give the spit plaque to the antique dealer. He's not interested, but keep pushing and finally tell him that the spit of the person who killed LeChuck is on the plaque. He buys it and pays you 6000 pieces o' eight. Look in the book called "Great Shipwrecks of Our Century" and see the coordinates for where the Mad Monkey sunk. Go talk to Kate Capsize and tell her you want to charter a ship. Sail out to the coordinates you just read in the book and dive into the water. When you get to the bottom, pick up the monkey head and pull the anchor. Back on Booty Island enter the store and give the monkey head to the antique dealer and he'll give you the map piece.
Leave the town and go to the Cliff.

Use the fishing pole and Guybrush will catch the map piece. Unfortunately a seagull steals it and flies up to the Big Tree. Follow it. Use the reinforced oar in the hole next to the plank. Use the reinforced oar, pick up the plank, and use it in the hole after the oar. Use the plank, pick up the oar, and use it in the hole after the plank. Guybrush got the hang of it and will do the rest himself. Up in the tree pick up the telescope and enter the door with the blue curtain.
Use the dog with the pile and he'll sniff out the map piece. You now got the second map piece.
Leave and sail to Phatt Island. You'll see a cutscene with LeChuck and Largo LaGrande.

Leave the town and walk to the Waterfall. Walk up to the top of the waterfall and use Jojo on the pump. Go back down to the foot of the waterfall and enter the newly discovered gaping hole. Walk through all the halls and walk up the hill to the cottage. Enter the cottage and talk to Rum Rogers. Talk to him about the map and soon he challenges you to a drinking contest.
He leaves and comes back with a mug o' grog for you. When he leaves to get one for himself quickly poor the grog on the tree and fill the mug with the near-grog you stole from Kate when she was in jail. The contest begins and Rum Roger passes out.

Now, use the mirror with the mirror frame and leave the cottage. Open the left window and use the telescope with the grotesque statue in front of the cottage. Notice which brick the beam hits. Enter the cottage again and push the brick the beam hit. Guybrush falls through a trap door and lands in front of a bathtub with a skeleton in it. The skeleton is holding a map piece in its hand. Pick up the map piece and go through the hole. You now have three map pieces.
Enter the cave and walk through all the halls again until you are back at the waterfall. Sail to Scabb Island and you'll see another cutscene with LeChuck and Largo LaGrande.

Walk to the cemetery and use the crypt key to unlock the crypt. Read the book "Famous Pirate Quotations" and notice which one was said by Rapp Scallion. Look at the coffins and open the coffin that has Rapp Scallion's quote inscribed on it. Pick up some of his ashes and leave the cemetery. Go visit the voodoo lady in the swamp and look at her jars until you find the one called Ash-2-life. Try to pick it up and the voodoo lady will start talking to you. Tell her you would like a potion of Ash-2-life. Guybrush gives her the ashes of Rapp Scallion, but she says she has forgot the recipe. Give her the book "The Joy of Hex".
When you got the potion go back to the crypt in the cemetery and use the potion on Rapp Scallion's ashes. Talk to him and agree to check the gas for him at the weenie hut if he gives you his map piece. He gives you the key to the weenie hut. Leave the cemetery and go to the beach. Use the key to unlock the weenie hut and enter. Turn of the gas and go back to the crypt. Resurrect Rapp Scallion again and tell him the gas was on and you turned it off. He gives you his piece of the map.
You now have all four map pieces.

Leave the cemetery and visit Wally in Woodtick. Give the model lighthouse lens to him. Give the map pieces to him and he promises to put the map together for if you go to the International House of Mojo to see if his love potion is ready. Go back to the voodoo lady and ask for the love potion which she then gives you. She feels an disturbance in the force and that Wally is in trouble. Hurry back to Wally. You'll find he has been kidnapped and has scratched the word "LeChuck" in the table.
Go back to the swamp and crawl into the crate.

Part III: LeChuck's Fortress

When Guybrush has crawled out of the crate, walk to the right and up the stairs through the door. Now there are three tunnels you can walk through, just pick one of them and enter. Now you have to find your way through a maze of doors. You have to select the right doors in the right order to find your way through. Look at the spit encrusted paper, where Guybrush wrote the lyrics to the song, his parents sang in his dream. The song describes how the doors look. Here is an example of a verse, but your song probably won't look like this, because the song is different each time you play the game.

The leg bone is connected to the head bone.
The head bone is connected to the hip bone.
The hip bone is connected to the rip bone.

That's the first verse. (In my song, remember yours is different, but we use my song in this example.) Now you need to find a door where the leg bones are on top, in the middle there are a head bone and at the bottom there have to be a hip bone. Find it, open it by pushing it, and walk through it. Then you need to look at verse 2 that will describe the second door you need to go through, and then the 3rd and 4rth. When you go through a door, the next door you need to find are usually the same door you just came in through or it is in the same room. The leg bone looks like 2 feet :)

When you are through, you end up at a big door with a lot of locks. Don't worry about them though, just open the door and walk through it. In the next room you will find LeChuck's voodoo throne. Pick up the voodoo key hanging next to the throne.

Guybrush gets caught by LeChuck and together with Wally he is placed above an acid pit. LeChuck explains how a very complicated device will cause Guybrush and Wally to be lowered into the acid. After a chat with LeChuck, he leaves. You now have to escape.

Use the crazy straw with the green drink and spit on the pan to turn it. Then spit twice on the shield to the right of Guybrush and the candle will be extinguished. Guybrush and Wally escape, but LeChuck finds out.

Open the juju bag. Guybrush finds some matches and a love bomb. Use the matches and enjoy the explosion.

Part IV: Dinky Island

After the explosion Guybrush ends up on Dinky Island. Get up and pick up the bottle from the ocean and the crowbar from the beach. Pick up the martini glass to the left of where the crowbar was and fill it with ocean water. Now use it with the still machine. Open the barrel and Guybrush will pick up the cracker inside. You can talk to Herman if you want, but it is not necessary.

Walk to the left and enter the jungle. Take a left turn and follow the road until you end up at a tree with a bag hanging from it. Smash the bottle on the tree and use the broken bottle to rip a hole in the bag. Pick up the box that fell to the ground and use the distilled water on it. Now you have three crackers.

Walk back to the right until you get to a small pond with a box next to it. Pick up the rope that is twisted around the box. Use the crowbar to pry open the box and pick up the dynamite in it.

Walk back to the beach. The parrot knows the way to Big Whoop, so you have to get it to show you the way. Feed a cracker to the parrot and follow the directions it gives you. When you get to place the parrot said you should go, it will be waiting for you. Give it another cracker and follow the directions it gives. Keep doing this until you end up at a Big X.

Use the shovel on the Big X to dig a hole. When Guybrush hits cement, use the matches to light the dynamite and throw it in the hole. The explosion gets Elaine's attention and places Guybrush on a small platform next to the treasure chest. Tie the rope to the crowbar and use it will one of the twisted metal rods at the top of the hole. Both the platforms crumbles and Guybrush ends up hanging from the rope holding the treasure chest. The scene changes to the one we saw at the beginning of the game, where Elaine has showed up and Guybrush is telling her the story. Suddenly the rope breaks and Guybrush falls down into a dark room.

Move the cursor around until you find the light switch and push it. Guybrush is surprised by LeChuck who is standing next to him. Talk with LeChuck and you will learn that him and Guybrush are brothers. LeChuck takes out a voodoo doll, which he will use to send Guybrush into another dimension. Unfortunately for LeChuck and luckily for Guybrush he only sends him to the next room. LeChuck tries again, but this time he also just sends Guybrush to the next room.

You have to walk around in this tunnel and enter the different rooms. If LeChuck finds you, just let him use his voodoo doll and send you to another room and continue from there. You have to make a voodoo doll of LeChuck by using the same recipe you used to make a voodoo doll of Largo LaGrande. Now enter the storage room, which is the room with all the boxes. Open the four boxes on the floor and pick up a doll and the balloon. Leave the room, walk to the right and enter the first aid room.

Look at the two skeletons, which is Guybrush's parents, and pick up one the skulls. Open the trash can and pick up the stuff inside, which is a pair of surgical gloves. Open the medical drawer and pick up the hypodermic syringe. Leave the room, walk twice to the left, and enter the room with the broken grog machine. Fill the surgical gloves and the balloon with helium by using the helium tank in the corner. Use the coin return on the grog machine and a coin will roll across the floor. Wait for LeChuck to appear. When he sees the coin and bends down to pick it up, quickly pick up his underwear. After you have taken his underwear, he zaps you to another room.

Wait for him to appear and when he does, give him the clean white hankie you got from Stan. After he once again has zapped you, got to the elevator. Push the call button to open the doors and enter. Once again wait for LeChuck to appear and when he does, quickly close the elevator doors by pulling the lever. Pick up the his crispy beard bits that the elevator doors cut off. Open the door in front of Guybrush and enter. This brings you to the alley on Melee Island in Monkey Island 1, but you can't leave the alley.

Put the voodoo kewpie doll, the skull, the underwear, the used hankie, and the crispy beard bits in the juju bag. You now have a voodoo doll of LeChuck. Enter the elevator and pull the lever to ride back down. Leave the elevator and wait for LeChuck. When he shows up, use the hypodermic syringe in the voodoo doll. LeChuck leaves, but follow him until you find him again and Guybrush will automatically use the voodoo doll. Guybrush and LeChuck will engage in a conversation. Choose to tear the leg off the voodoo doll and see what happens. Talk with LeChuck and enjoy the ending.
