Hi,

I've made a video of myself playing various themes from Monkey Island on piano. I've added ingame scenes as well to show where the themes appeared in the game.

Links to download it:

Haha, the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this thread was "That's funny, just last week I saw a video of someone playing the music from Sonic 1 on piano". And what happens? You're on the same site as the guy who did that :P

Congrats to both of you, both are pretty damn good.

Please. Please. Please teach me! I can't get that song out of my head.

EDIT: I don't want to seem rude? But How come you didn't do the music for MI3?

@All:
You're welcome! Thanks for the replies! :)

@Nitronic12:
Which song do you mean exactly ? :) If you want to learn how to play the pieces...my sheet music is available for all :) I didn't want the video to be too long, actually I even skipped about 8 songs: (Fettucini brothers(Mi1), Organ Prelude (Mi1), Swamp (Mi2), Stan (Mi2) and various other pieces..). Another reason why I just played MI 1&2 music is that these were the games I grew up with while playing 'em in my childhood.

@Covskin:
Haha, that is INDEED very funny. I liked the fact that he transcribes music and shares them on his website, that's why I decided to transcribe/arrange VG music aswell and make it available for everybody on his website too. After he released released the sonic video the visitors of the website have become much more, so I decided to make the MI video which I had in mind for so long already as quickly as possible.

so long..

Nice. It was almost like watching a PBS show on piano concerto solos. For an amateur film, this has a the look and feel of a professional presentation.

I've listened to several covers of MI music and I think this is my favorite. I suppose it helps that I am a big fan of the piano. I especially liked your rendition of JoJo's music (the metronome was a nice touch). When you know how to play well, I think it must be difficult to play slightly off tempo--pretending that you're a beginner.

I 'd wager the music in the last two games might present a problem for a piano. It would be hard for a single instrument to do justice to some of the orchestral pieces in those games, like the music used during the sea battle. It's a lot easier for a piano to reproduce the MIDI of the first two games. However, some themes, like the Barbershop Music, would be easy enough to translate on a single piano. If you plan to do any more, please post a link here.

Anyway, thanks for the entertainment. I consider it 12 minutes well spent.

Hi everybody,

@blue_orchid:
I have lessons at a musicschool for about 10.5 years now (I'm 21 btw).

@Nitronic12:
Check out the outro again, there's all information about the sheets, how to contact me, etc. You really got to play MI1 & 2 because they're probably the greatest adventures of all times.

@raVen_image:
Thanks, I wasn't actually sure if people can remember the JoJo music good enough to remember that he slows down on the same passage every time. It's like doing a little ritardando (=slowing down) and then joining in the metronome beat again but 1-2 beats later.

Happy New Year everyone!

I just can't stop watching you playing piano 8O
Did you find out how to play the musics by yourself or you saw on a website?

I left a comment on the main page, but I'm more than happy to repeat myself! w3sp, you are just amazing! It's hypnotic! And spell binding, and completely unbelievable! Wow! I think I've found myself a new idol in you- you're fantastic! Your website is amazing too.

Just thank you- thank you so much, for reducing me to tears of sheer joy whilst watching/listening. (that sounds so very lame, and I do apologise, but the Monkey Island music means a hell of a lot to me!)

Fantastic.
