changes to the dialogue in special edition

Postby callmecheez » Mon Jul 05, 2010 6:09 pm

Hi all, first post. Apologies if this has been said before (and I'm sure it has, but I can't find it);

Have there been subtle changes to the dialogue / jokes in the Special Edition? I remember I played to the point where you talk to the 3 pirates in the Scumm Bar at the start and it was different to the diskette version I played back in the day.

I remember you would say "i'm a pirate and I mean to kill ye all!" (or similar) and they'd look at each for a second, then laugh..?

This doesn't happen on the new one - has a lot else been changed?

Well I've been playing the original SMI and MI2 every year for about 8 years now, sometimes twice a year, and I didn't notice anything in particular; but then remember, there are so many different versions of MI that were released originally, they've probably just chosen one and stuck with it, that might be different to the one you remember, due to diskspace contraints of the day. I mean, Spiffy the Dog got his closeup back for the special edition and that was dropped in the original, so I wouldn't be surprised if this were the cause.
There is a light and it never goes out.

Yeah, as FFM said, there are many different versions of MI1. If you're interested in that sort of stuff, I can highly recommend ATMachine's site, which is an excellent compendium of LucasArts oddities. This thread over at LucasForums probably has some interesting information as well.
