Steve Purcell auctions off original MI2 art Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (18)
Steve Purcell emailed us to let us know that he has put the original back cover illustration for LeChuck's Revenge up for sale on eBay. I've always loved the box art for the original games and it is a real treat to see it in full without text and screenshots covering parts of it. I'm just wondering, is the skeleton holding the frame included? Check out the auction to make a bid and see more close-up images of the illustration.

Wow!! To respond to Raven, doubt the seller held it at that price,as there would have been real bids just before that.

Sweet baby Jeezus drinking oolong tea on the roof of a railcar! There's 10 minutes to go, and it's at $4000! I wonder who these mad crazy affluent Purcell fans are??

At the seller:
Would you be so kind to upload a few good quality pictures after the end of the auktion for all poor MI freaks who doesn't have the chance to get this great illustration in original? :-)

(Hmm maybe this sounds a bit too formal, but the other ideas i had to formulate it weren't that good too xD )

I'd really love to see a copy of this at the wall of my room, though i'd proabably kill the printer cartridge *g*

Praying for an answer,
Asifish ;-)

"I wouldn't spend that much on a Rembrandt."

I would. Unless of course we're talking about an etching, in which case 100 bucks would even be on the expensive side.

Everyone who's experienced with eBay knows the only serious bids happen within the last 20 minutes of an auction.

With less than three days to go, we'll either see a first bid or we won't. Personally, I think Stevie doesn't really want to sell his painting as much as he wants to advertise it.

The price and limited shipping area tells me he is not a serious seller. Naturally, he may get a buddy to bid, just to prove this item is "hot" but, come on ... over $1000(USD)? I wouldn't spend that much on a Rembrandt.

My prediction, to answer Braingame, is that this piece will end up in the seller's hands.

I'm quite thankful that he doesn't accept international bidders, because if he did, I'd most probably sell my parent's furniture.

He's only shipping to United States' residents. I'd say he's effectively discarded 65-70% of his potential market.

I think it's worth the money...but I'm too poor for it.

That's the coolest thing I've seen on ebay for a while.

Iexpected about $400. If it was i would bid :)

Comment by: KGB @ 19:05, Monday, January 29, 2007
What were you expecting, that it would be three bucks worth? Of course it costs a lot. And it's 45$ shipping costs.
I'm not buying it, but I salute the one that does - if there will be such one.
